Terry was introduced to glassblowing in 1996 while
at Sunderland University in Sunderland, England.
After being convinced that shaping molten glass
was his life’s calling, he enrolled in the glassblowing
program at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.
There he earned his B.F.A. As important as the skills
that he learned while taking courses was his
experiences being a full-time gaffer at leading
New England studios. It was this combination that
enabled Terry was able to fully develop a deep
understanding of this challenging material.
Today, Terry Pagel resides in Kentucky.
There, he creates his glass sculptures entirely
by hand using traditional techniques. The innovative
design of each piece is a unique expression of the artist.
Though thoroughly designed and meticulously planned,
each piece develops its own individuality as it is being
created. This allows each piece to be
viewed on an individual basis.
